You need to try the 7 Best Fitness Apps

In the app store, it feels like there’s a new fitness app every day. And with so many social collaboration influencers, coaches, and advertisers for advertising purposes, it’s never entirely obvious who has really used an app and what applications are truly worth downloading. (We get it, when there might be financial rewards involved, it can be difficult to take the word of someone seriously.)

So Health wanted to step in to help by spending a few weeks checking a variety of the offered fitness apps. To find out which applications can assist you achieve your fitness goals, we weeded through the paid and free subscriptions. Here’s our list of the best apps for working out.

I love that you can search upcoming classes as a planner and add them straight into the in-app calendar of the Tone It Up app. You can also ask friends who have the app to join you for the workout, so it’s like you’re doing the workout together. In order to engage in the exercise, classes have details as well as equipment you’ll need (which is basic and requires items such as dumbbells and a mat) and the same class is provided all day long, even if you can’t make 7:30 a.m. Class, at 8, 8:30, 9, etc, you’ll have another chance.

The Playbook app can be downloaded for free, but you will be asked to select a way to pay for workouts immediately (though you can do a free seven-day trial). However, it is worth the price: the platform was designed to bring some of the biggest names in training to your living room, which you would usually never have access to.

You want to follow one “partner” (or coach) so that you have access to all the exercises they put on the app, but you can move as many times as you like at any time. If you have a question about the workouts or to give them input about what you like or don’t like, I appreciate that you can directly tell the trainers.

You also have the option to download workouts straight to your phone, which I love, because when you choose to use a video app, you don’t always have coverage, so this gives you convenient online or offline access.

, Itsines

It’s possible that you have heard of Kayla Itsines. The Australian coach is known for her e-books of fitness Bikini Body Guides (BBG), which have changed multiple women’s bodies. She moved her workouts to an app, where you can choose to do the original BBG, which involves resistance workouts mixed with cardio sessions of high and low intensity, both of which use limited equipment, or her newest BBG Stronger program, which is specifically for people who love to work in the gym.

I love that there are just 28 minutes of the Sweat app workouts, and they’re always challenging, which is why they work. If you can’t make a definite decision between the two, you can mix and match the two services. And you’re teaming up with a group of millions of women with weight loss and body aspirations close to yourself by joining.

Let Apptiv know what your objectives are-weight loss, race running, power building, or stress reduction-your fitness level, where you do your exercises, and the days and times you like to sweat, and you will be recommended programs by the app. Or choose from categories such as treadmill, outdoor running, strength training, yoga, rowing, and so many more to choose individual workouts.

I appreciate that the workouts concentrate on music. Everyone has a playlist that is timed for the workout you’re doing, and if you want to run to rock or pop, you can decide up front. An instructor who will guide you through intervals or workouts, offering helpful tips and encouragement, which I enjoyed during short sprints, interrupts the music. And if you end up loving a particular coach, you can see when you pick who is teaching the workout, so you can remain loyal or try to work with different people.

Nike Club for Training

If what you’re looking to develop is muscular endurance and you would like more basic workouts that can be performed at home or in the gym of your house, check out this Nike app. Tell the app how active you are and it will recommend workouts for you, or browse through what the app has to offer by muscle category, type of exercise, duration of workout, or equipment.

Play the workout and the app will demonstrate how movements are performed and cue you through timed sets, or simply scroll to the bottom to display the list of movements and timing for each exercise and do it without teacher signals.

Personally, I prefer to exercise on my own, but I need new ideas for workouts, so I love to browse this app’s workouts, review the list of movements, and decide what I’d like to do at my local gym.

Don’t let a time limit deter you from getting into some exercise. All you need is a half hour (well, to be specific, 28 minutes), and an area where you can move like a plank or glute bridge, no equipment required!

Since in most of the obé app workouts there is no equipment, it seems to be my go-to when I’m traveling and just need to move on a plane a little after a long day. One of my highlights is over 1,000 exercises spanning categories ranging from HIIT to strength to yoga sculpt, because I’m not great at flowing on my own.

If you have them open, you can also add weights to some of the workouts-instructors offer that option when applicable. You can’t beat what this app provides if you’re never going to enter a commercial gym but need some fitness motivation and inspiration.

When I choose a fitness class, whether it’s in person or on an app, instructors are one of the most important things to me. I want someone who is intelligent, motivational, but also someone who plans demanding workouts, and I get just that from the NEOU app. (Note: There are also a lot of classes for beginners, so all levels are welcome!)

Take a class from the live schedule, where you can work out in real time with the teacher, choose a previous (aka popular) workout trend, or choose one by target body part. For a sweaty workout, you can find a favorite sequence, such as InTime (high-intensity interval training) or Go, which incorporates cardio and strength training.

There are NEOU classes of all lengths that I love, because at the end of another session, I can use this app for my whole workout for the day, or I can use it to add to a 10-minute ab sequence.
